RE: GEEK LIT

The vision for Alert Nerd Press is that it will become a destination for Geek Lit.

This begs the fair question: What is Geek Lit?

It is not Freaks Who Bite The Heads Off Chickens Lit. It is not even
Circus Oddities Who Get Married And Have Midget Bearded Lady Kids Lit.

It is fiction and creative nonfiction for geeks, by geeks, and often
about geeks.

High Fidelity by Nick Hornby planted a flag in the fine, coarse dirt
on the surface of geekdom’s moon. Some may call it “lad lit” instead,
but it’s the story of a geek, a hopeless music obsessive who must
somehow learn to navigate the world of the “mundanes.” And it’s not
just about “lads,” either. Women are just as susceptible to the
irresistible allure of a freshly printed comic, a seat-gripping horror
flick, a mint-on-card Princess Leia…and wondering what those
obsessions mean about their lives.

These are the books that need to fall into geek hands, to speak to
their experiences and explore their lives. A good read, a few laffs,
gentle mockery and true understanding. What more could any geek ask
for?
